DYSON INSULATIONS TWENTY20 CUP FINAL

In previous rounds, St Lawrence had been successful when chasing the runs, but tonight
they were batting first. Much depended upon opener Alex Stead whose 67* in the quarterfinal
and 77* in the semi had been the star turn -
64 came off just 30 balls. The pair put on 143 for the second wicket in just 39 minutes, and whilst the strokeplay might have been adventurous and spectacular, neither gave a single chance. The partnership effectively won the match as the highest team score of the entire competition, 223 for 4 was posted.
However, opponents Bradford & Bingley were not going to capitulate, and there was concern when openers Davies and Duce passed 50 in only the 3rd over. But once both had
been removed by catches in the deep, the St Lawrence bowlers -
PSL 223 for 4 (A Stead 97, G Clough 64)
B & B 178 all out (M Duce 42, S Davies 30, M Robertshaw 4 for 21, G Clough 2 for 33, A Stead 2 for 44)
