WEATHER WINS AS CLUB PREPARES FOR NEW SEASON

Despite cold, windy and wet (occasionally snowy!) weather, there was a very good turnout of members and players over the weekend of 5/6 April to give the club its spring clean and prepare for the new season.

The Square and outfield have had no chance to dry out, and the two friendly matches scheduled for 12/13 April had to be cancelled.  Many senior players have been practising in winter nets, and there was a good attendance for practise last Tuesday evening But we desperately need good drying conditions soon for the season  to get under way.

Due to the appalling weather, the Bradford League committee took the unusual step of postponing all the new season’s opening day fixtures. St Lawrence’s 1st XI home match against Bradford & Bingley will now be played sometime  in June.  At least the delay will give inspirational captain James Smith some extra time to recover his fitness following a bad car accident in January.
